"He who sings well prays twice."
~Saint Augustine
Our Music program, directed by Martha Sturomski, is constantly growing and being fine tuned. We have five fine choirs, as well several cantors, who enhance our Masses and Liturgical Services.
Adult Choir: Rehearsals Wednesday at 7:30PM for this growing dynamic organization. They generally sing at the 11:15 Mass, except for the first Sunday of the month when they sing at the 5:30PM Saturday Mass. They also sing for special services at Christmas, Holy Week and Parish Missions. One of the Highlights of the music Ministry is a special Christmas Concert/Fund Raiser with all the choirs. This year’s 14th annual concert raised over $3000 for the Fishkill Food Pantry.
Children’s Choir: Rehearsals Wednesdays at 6PM. This wonderful youth group sings on the First Sunday of every month at 11:15AM and for special feasts.
Handbell Choir: This choir meets on Tuesday at 7:00PM and perform for Easter, Christmas and special feats.
Contemporary Choirs: Rehearsals alternate for these two choirs on Tuesday’s at 8:00PM. They then alternate during the year performing for the 9:45AM Family Mass. These choirs take summer breaks.
Special Instrumentalists: From time to time Martha is joined by her husband, Doug, the choir’s accompanist, in song and instrumental playing on violin, concertina and handbells. Their daughter, Janine, a violinist plays frequently at Masses and Special Services. The music ministry also features a brass quartet and other instrumentalists during special seasonal liturgies. We encourage others with musical abilities, who would like to join this apostolic work, to contact Martha Sturomski at 845-226-6752 for further information.
